Using FAD is simple, almost intuitive, thanks to the modern user interface built into the product. Moving through data is easily accomplished from a single screen using function keys with Special Fuctions displaying in pop-up windows. Complete online Help is available from any screen or window, though FAD is so easy to use that you may never need Help.

FAD is rich with functions and utilities, all designed to make life easier for AS/400 programmers. We provide multiple formats for viewing file data - from raw hexadecimal to formatted fields. Or select specific fields for display and build your own format! Single and multiple record displays are available and files can be displayed in either Keyed or RRN sequence with position to by file KEY or RRN.

Search for data by scanning all, or part, of a record or by selecting a field and scanning just that field. In either case, it is not necessary to type the hex value of the search data, FAD can convert it for you. As FAD searches, it keeps you informed of the number of records processed and lets you stop a search without cancelling the job.

Of course you can add, copy, and delete records in files as well as update existing file data. All entry of data is in formatted fields regardless of data type and, again, FAD preforms the data conversions for you.

FAD can build a list of files related to the one displayed. From this list you can: select another file for display, display file key fields, select/omit criteria, file information, record formats, and member information. All list functions in FAD have reporting capabilities.
