The Programmer in a Box suite has been put together to facilitate rapid retrieval, sorting, editing and programming of data within the AS/400 environment.
The "Programmer In A Box" concept was created to standardize the repetitive coding that often builds up in a system. It follows a modularized coding methodology. By building a system from small reusable modules, you can streamline your code and minimize bugs. This tool creates a customized application that can be embedded in your programs to standardize your systems.

Components:

File Access and Display (FAD) is an AS/400 native utility that provides immediate access to data in files on the AS/400. It allows you to view and manipulate this data "on the fly". File Access and Display is our first entry in the Programmer in a Box toolkit.
The Instant Selection Window System is another tool in the Programmer In A Box toolkit. This multi-function utility lets you create a customized application in just minutes! It is designed to display a selection window or verify the existence of a record in a file. It allows you to return an entire record or selected fields to your program. You design the look of the window, the heading text, and the usage of the key fields. You can even create groups of related windows to provide multi-sort capabilities. With this flexibility, you can create uniform applications with standardized coding schemes and make changes to a system instantly to adapt to a user's needs without recompiling a program.
The Instant File Maintenance System can create complete maintenance applications with add, copy, delete and display functions.
